Home Decor || Have You Seen Our New Dining Place? || Featuring The Bari Set by @TheBrick #AD

With one of the most anticipated sales of the year starting tomorrow, I wanted to share with you our finished dining space. Maybe give you a few items you may want to check up on in the massive Black Friday sale this weekend at The Brick.  I don’t know exactly what items will be discounted but their sale is legendary… It’s definitely one to check if you are looking to pick up furniture at a fraction of the price.

I fell in love with this Bari dining set and worked the design of the space around it’s modern aesthetic. The leather on the chairs is wipeable, which is perfect for our family needs. And this Jade server has almost the exact wood colour and finish. I love the table with this functional and trendy server but if we did not have that window to the right I would have loved this matching Bari bookcase.

With the holidays fast approaching I accessorized our set with neutral items like tropical leaf place settings, gold cutlery and these honeycomb candle holders I found in store from The Brick. I love these geometric wall scones too, also found instore from The Brick. They really complete the room.  Continue reading

Home Decor || How to Style Sidetables 2 Ways || With @TheBrick #AD

Ever since our master bedroom reveal with this amazing The Berlin bed, so many of you have asked how we style our side tables. Honestly, I love to style side tables for bedrooms and end tables for living rooms simply because there are so many options. It’s the kind of design element you can change often, work in seasonal pieces and really have fun. See our International Lux Accent Table from The Brick styled two ways below.

The first way I like to style an side table is what I called the “Symmetric” Approach. Find a larger functional item like a lamp or a fan. Like this Tyler Lamp from The Brick in the centre of the side table. Depending how much much surface area you have add style items centrally to the table. I like stacks of books, candles, and cute smaller alarm clocks.

The next style approach is basically the opposite, it’s an Asymmetric Approach to placing your items. Simply pick one side of the table for your larger dominant item like this lamp and stack styled accents from there. I love this large glass jar I found in store at The Brick. I use them throughout the house to add a pop of shiny colour.

Style || Mini & Me || 4 Must Have Wardrobe Staples || Are they in your closet?

I’m talking fall wardrobe staples just in time for these chilly temperatures ahead.

Let’s start with my favourite cold weather must: The Chunky Knit Sweater. There are tons of options out there, my advice look at the fibre content, style and colour. Look for luxurious and functional blends of wool and cashmere. I only commit to poly blends when the price is close to a store giving it away. I like to invest in sweaters with wool and/ or cashmere for the longevity and the actually warmth it’ll provide. Next opt for a classic cut, trends come and go quickly. Don’t feel the need to spend lots of money on a cut out shoulder sweater, as an example when you could get a classic mock neck or crew that take you through a few years. Finally, colour is key for a staple that’ll stick around in your closet. I love: blacks, greys, creams and oatmeals. Neutrals are always on trend.

Taking you from fall to winter is: The Scarf. Because most scarves are not going to break the bank, son’t be afraid to buy a few mixing in shapes, sizes, patterns and colours. It’s easy to throw one on as you go out the door to polish a look and have an amazing staple piece to your outfit. I found this one locally at Bamboo Ballroom off Whyte Avenue. Just make sure it’s a winter weight, meaning warm fabrics and try to avoid summer options like silk, or linen.  Fall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagNext fall wardrobe must: The Loafer. Say goodbye to sandals and hello to close toed footwear. I opt for a loafer in the fall instead of the boot. Reason, there will be plenty of time to wear boots in the snow. Loafers are comfortable and add a dressier component to a look without the fussiness of a heeled bootie. Fall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFinally, my favourite wardrobe must have for the fall: The Red Handbag. Adds a pop of colour to any look. Especially transitions from fall to holiday looks. Makes such a fun statement. Red not your thing? Try an olive green or rich camel brown. Fall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bagFall mom style fashion edmonton bamboo ballroom how to wear a blanket scarf red chloe drew bag

Laser Spa Treatments || A Q&A on my recent experience. #AD

I’ll be the first one to admit, taking care of myself has fallen a bit to the wayside in the past 4 years. Since having kids I’ve struggled to find time for myself. This season  I made a goal to start the transition into a healthy balance of self care. It is so important, in hopes it’ll help me be an even better mommy. If I’m healthy, mentally rested and cared for… I will be able to give more of myself to these precious little guys. My best self is what my goal is all about.

This week I got a sitter for two hours and headed off to Lipstick Empire for some me time. I shared my experience on my IG stories, I was overwhelmed by the response. So many of you feel the same way; it’s hard to get away for to the spa, a hair appointment, even a coffee alone! So thankful for the positive support of this me time movement. I know it was only two hours away but I needed it. So many of you had questions about the treatments, so I thought I’d try to answer them all in one place, welcome to my Laser Spa Q&A:

05CEDE35-F9F1-41D9-8690-FB227021212CWhy Lipstick Empire?

Lipstick Empire LaserSpa is a full service med-spa that offers everything from facials, makeup applications to advanced laser treatments as well as Botox and Filler treatments.

All of their Medical Aestheticians and Laser Technicians are highly trained in the field of Medical Cosmetics with experience ranging between 5-10 plus years in the industry.

The devices and the technology used at Lipstick Empire have been handpicked to deliver unparalleled results with little to no downtime required.
Not all machines are created equally so please ensure that you do your research: not only on the machines being used in your service but your technicians skill level to ensure your safety and to ensure you receive the most effective/efficient treatment possible. I have had very bad Groupon experiences years ago, one was a laser hair removal nightmare, burns from a laser facial and a lash extension horror story. I really wanted to speak to this point, it is important to have treatments done by people who actually know what they are doing! Learn from my painful mistakes and find a reputable spa using machines that work and techs that know what they are doing. These machines can have amazing results but they are powerful, so in the wrong hands you can do damage to your skin. If you aren’t local, read through reviews from multiply source sites. Call and ask questions. Go in for a consult to check the place out yourself.

What did I have done?

I had GentleMax Pro Laser Hair Removal with a laser by Syneroncandela Canada.
The GentleMax Pro delivers fast and efficient results for laser hair removal. It has a dual wavelength which is great for ALL skin types. It does not work on blonde or grey hair but they have a treatment called Dermablading that takes care of that.

How many treatments do I need and does it hurt?

Typically most people need 6-8 treatments per area to removal the hair. Treatments are done at 4-6 week intervals to target the hair when it is in the growing stage. It did hurt in some spots more compared to others. But it is over in seconds. I wasn’t red or swollen by the evening. I would say waxing hurts just as much for me, but this will solve my problem while regular waxing appointments will not.

How much is it?  Continue reading
