Home Decor with @TheBrick #AD || Stylish Storage Solutions || Entry Way Edition

NS-366The entryway battle is real… our family rushes into the door and half of what they are wearing plops down into our small front door space. Nothing drives me more crazy, the coat and boot clutter that erupts several times a day. You don’t have to have kids to experience this recurring phenomenon daily. Entryways can be a difficult space to balance style and function. I’ve been looking over a year to find some modern minimalist furniture pieces that were could solve our storage problems. I love the North Avenue collection from The Brick. They have tons of pieces that will fit any space: from deskscoats racks to shelving units this line has so many modern storage solutions.NS-342NS-347

We added the North Avenue coat rack for the obvious reason, we have a lot of jackets! I like to use the closet to hang most of our outerwear but we keep current favs out on the rack for easy access. Plus, it has three shelves adding even more storage for keys, bags, and gloves.NS-357NS-340NS-354

Next, we opted for both the short and tall North Avenue bookcases. I love that I can add stylish accessories, like this honey comb candle holder I found instore at The Brick to the upper shelves. Then store shoes on the lower racks, so the kids have them at their level.

Parka Power with @Parajumpers_Official #Sponsor || A wintery look for your next snowy adventure… #PJSFriends #PJSCanada #MyParajumpers

How very Canadian of me, sharing a winter look when other bloggers in North America are talking Spring! With an impending winter snow storm warning here in Edmonton, I thought it felt fitting to share one of my favourite parkas with you. I’ve partner with Parajumpers to share this cozy look to inspire your next snow day adventure. They are an extremely innovative outerwear collection with highly technological components, designed above all else to be functional. This is my third coat from them in 5 years, I’m a fan to say the least. The Light Long Bear parka by Parajumpers is the perfect parka to keep you warm and stylish in the colder months. It is so light weight and I love the athleisure vibe. The multi pockets help me tote around everything a busy mom would need: kleenex, snacks, diapers and travel wipes! It’s very much the perfect coat for an active on the go lifestyle.

#AD Emerald Green & Navy Blue OH MY! || LivingRoom Refresh with @TheBrick

I know that I’ve hinted at this transformation on my IG story and peeked your design interest a few weeks ago. I’m so excited for the final reveal of this living room transformation. This month I styled The Brick’s new Tatum sofa and loveseat to modernized my sister’s main living space: the family room. When I saw the stunning deep blue leather of the Tatum I knew I needed this stand out piece to work my design around. The clean modern lines are so classic and the wipeable leather is perfect for a family with children. I added the off-white Loft shag rug to make the space look large, airy and open. And paired the sofa with this stunning art piece I found in store at The Brick. As a forewarning, the art and mirror are not available online but they may be at a location near you. They get new accessories often, so I urge you to take a look at your local store. You never know what you could find.

Once you’ve decluttered a place, I like to add back in little comforts to make the space warm and inviting. Pick a few pillows and throws that fit your design colours. Finally, add a plant or two. They clean the air and the greenery is an easy completer piece to complete the look of the room.

I love pairing deep blues with accents of golds and emerald. It’s such a rich palette that easily pairs with dark wood flooring or brown brick. I picked up this gorgeous gold lantern in store from The Brick. Don’t be afraid to add some colour when purchasing furniture. It can add a statement to your room and create an unforgettable design palette.

#AD @TheBrick || How To Add a Little Cozy to Your Home || The subtle art of Hygge

With Valentines Day behind us and a Family Day Stat holiday on Monday I’ve got the Art Of Hygge on my mind. It could be the cold weather, or how comfortable this Berlin bed from The Brick is… either way I’m looking forward to a weekend of cozy times with my little family unit this weekend.

If you haven’t heard of the ever so popular “Hygge” movement, let me tell ya… you might be embracing this full scale home decor and lifestyle choice already. I know I’ve been doing it for years. In it’s simplest form, the Scandinavian word “Hygge” is an overall feel of coziness and comfortability to work towards the feelings of wellness and contentment. It’s a daily ritual of enjoying the simple things: family, candles, the feel of clean warm sheets, and comfort food as examples. This concept has swept the home design world by storm in the last year, so of course I wanted to speak to it. I truly believe that by incorporating a little Hygge into your home and lifestyle you have the potential for your mental health and well being to benefit.

It’s the little things, I love to add cozy blankets, pillows, candles and floral arrangements to a room. Or changing up a long-term everyday use item like switching to the Beautyrest Hotel Diamond 6 plush king mattress set from The Brick. That mattress is the definition of cozy, it’s so soft and plus it was a game changer to the overall feel of our bedroom. Plus switching from a hard wood bed frame to the soft fabric Berlin was another design nod to actualizing a Hygge bedroom home design.

Mirror Mirror || Picture frame details in the bedroom with @TheBrick #Sponsor #HomeDecor

I love how a simple mirror can make a room look so much bigger than it is. Easily one of my favourite wall decor finishers is an elegant mirror, both for function and for design. When the Picture Frame mirror trend picked up last year I was so excited. I love detailed mirrors in general, naturally when I saw the classic touch of this frame detail on this full length mirror from The Brick I know I had to have it for our Master Bedroom.

When choosing a mirror for your space here are three easy tips to help narrow down the choices:

Function: Ask yourself, how will I be using this mirror? If you need it for seeing a head to toe outfit choice. Full length is for you, these types of mirrors are usual found in a bedroom, front entry way or dressing room. I LOVE how they open up a space, making it look so much larger.

Design: Are you looking to add a decorative detail to your wall? In this case, smaller mirrors are an easy way to add a beautiful touch to your room. Mix smaller mirrors into wall picturescapes or above a waist high dresser.

Size: Know the measurements of your space and find a mirror that fits within your size constraints. I had a large blank wall to work with, so the sky was the limit! Bigger the bigger. But when choosing a smaller mirror for above a piece of furniture choose one slightly smaller than the width of the dresser, as an example. F36A3D92-A966-446C-81C2-B322659DAE02226A33A7-6C17-4DF6-9153-CA58096B41DBFFBB52D3-5C9B-44F4-A835-EAC781A8C123FCFE294D-BF9E-4DDE-A849-5841080FF91C Continue reading
