#Sponsor || My 3 tips for creating the perfect outdoor living space with @TheBrick

Patio season is in full swing! I love an outdoor space, it’s easily my favourite “addition” you can make to your home.  By that, I mean creating an outdoor living place can essentially add another room or two to your home. In my case, I’ve added an additional living-room and dining spot with some help from The Brick. A patio space can be an investment but it does provide additional living space much cheaper compared to adding an actual structural additional to your home. I’ve included my 3 must have components to help create a well rounded and multifunctional outdoor living space:

“Create Several Different Types of Seating”

I want my guests to feel at home and stay away on our patio. So I added both dining and lounge seating. We’ve been enjoy many a meal in the sunshine with the Park Terrace Patio Dining Set! Featuring durable resin rattan wicker on the chair and table frame, this set will look sleek and sophisticated in any backyard setting. After dinner, take in the sunset and have conversations by the fire with a lounge set. The Park Terrance set (pictured) is 2017 model, but this year’s set renamed The Morris is great too built with the same durable material. Double the seating, double the function of the space. Adding multiple forms of seating will help you stay out longer on your new patio.

#AD || Stylish Toy Storage with @TheBrick

Let’s talk creative toy storage. If you’re a parent the daily battle with the toy clutter is very real! In our household I would say it’s easily one of my most challenging design aspects to kid friendly rooms. I’m a firm believer in stylish room storage. I haven’t felt the need to get toy chests or coloured plastic bins. I love that there are so many options out there for toy storage. My favourite, converting bookshelves with trendy bins or finding modern cabinets with adjustable shelves to help hide the clutter. Here are the 2 pieces that help us beat the toy clutter battle:

The Barrister Tall Bookcase: Finished in a salt grey oak colour, the bookcase blends easily with most décor while adding a touch of natural beauty. It’s unique cubbyholes, along with five shelves, provide ample and stylish storage solutions for books, Blu-ray discs, family photos, toys, stuffed animals and more. As an added benefit, the durable engineered wood construction is heat-, stain- and scratch-resistant perfect for a toddler room. There is a full furniture line with many stylish shapes and sizes, I’m loving the Barrister line. (We have the TV stand too)30D3E777-0DC2-47D6-BC92-C94A96648A1D

The Harbor View Storage Cabinet:I love to find a balance between open and closed storage. Unlike, the Barrister where collectible toys to stylish bins are on display. The Harbor completely hides the toy clutter with it’s horizontally-slatted doors and solid wood knobs radiate shaker-style simplicity with the perfect touch of splendour. This transitional cabinet complements both contemporary and traditional styles, making it easy to integrate into your decor. What’s more, engineered wood overlaid with paper laminate creates a durable piece that withstands the rigours of daily use. You can adjust the shelves to adapt to any of your toy clutter needs.6EB5420C-C36B-4E8E-94F6-DAA4640017C6IMG_9523 Continue reading

Home Decor || Alastair’s Room Update

I’m so excited to share Alastair’s room update with all of you this week. Some may have noticed we’ve been working on this room for several months now. When we moved into this house over a year ago, the previous owners used it as a home gym/ storage room. We pretty much adopted that idea in the moving process. It was far easier using it as a storage spot for many months and have Alastair sleep in a toddler bed in our room. Fast forward one year, I’m so ready to not only gain back our master bedroom but provide a toy heaven sleep situation for our little guy. We partner with The Brick to design a little boy’s bedroom dream. Let the room product sourcing begin!6EB5420C-C36B-4E8E-94F6-DAA4640017C6

His entire room design revolves around The Maroq Triangle Area Rug. Graphic geometric triangles in teal and mustard bring excitement to any space. The soil-resistant fibres in this rug will withstand daily use. I wanted a soft, plush feel of this carpet under his toes  and knees for play time.0098F379-2E38-40A5-B845-EEB28569585FB9FEB023-BADE-46C0-B765-D88DD3EED17C

Every kid’s room needs ample storage. We added both open and closed storage with the Harbor View Cabinet and Barrister Lane Tall Bookcase. Both in weather grey wood adding the perfect neutral palette to the room.
